Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) was created and designed to help children develop a love for the Bible and an understanding that its truth can guide their lives daily. Junior Bible Quiz offers a fun, exciting way to motivate children to understand the all-important truths in God’s Word. Through cooperative learning, children work together on teams to learn and understand the questions and answers from the Bible Fact-Pak. Then using cooperative competition the children meet with other teams for a fun quizzing match. There are twenty questions in a match (A,B, and C), with two teams of quizzers trying to beat each other to the buzzers to get the first shot at the answers. It has been said that JBQ is the fastest growing discipleship program in children’s ministry.

Who’s it for?

Kid’s in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. We have four levels of teams this year. All kids are welcome to participate. If you have kids interested in a level but don’t have a enough to field a team, please contact Wendy and Jake Wegner. They will assist with finding a solution to allow the kids to quiz.

1. Extreme Team Quizzing: For Kids in Kindergarten, 1st grade. They learn only a subset of the 10 pointers (no 20’s or 30’s). A great way to start off in quizzing!!

2. C Level Team Quizzing: For Kids in 1st -6th grade. They learn 10, 20, and 30 point questions. This is great place to start quizzing if you have older kids than 2nd grade or you want to do more questions. Some interrupting is usually done. Most kids do not have mastery of more than one group of point questions.

3. B Level Team Quizzing: For Kids in 1st -6th grade. They learn 10, 20, and 30 point questions. After C league, teams move up to B League quizzing. Almost all questions are interrupted and kids have started to learn more than one point value.

4. A Level Team Quizzing: For Kids in 1st -6th grade. They learn 10, 20, and 30 point questions. After B league, teams move up to A League quizzing. Almost all questions are interrupted at the break point and the majority of kids have learned more than one point value. Most kids have been in quizzing three or more years. The competition is fast. Are you ready??

Why JBQ?

1. It provides a deeper understanding of the Bible and provides the opportunity for children to come to Christ.

2. It provides the opportunity for children to make Christian friends outside of just their church.

3. It provides an opportunity to learn to compete in a Christian environment. Win or lose, no child truly loses when they are learning God’s word.

4. It provides a foundation of knowledge that will last a lifetime.

5. It provides a connection to the church at a critical time in a child’s life.

Wayne Murray posted in the JBQ forum:

“When we kicked off our JBQ program I shared a sermon call TRAINING SPIRITUAL CHAMPIONS. You can listen to it or download it on our website at www.grace-assembly.org and click on the sermons button. It includes one study that says that 90 percent of JBQ’s who complete the entire JBQ program (with parental involvement) NEVER walk away from the church. If those stats are true – why are we doing anything else??? Statistics tell us that right now – more than 80 % of evangelical kids will walk away from the church after high school. It certainly seems to me that JBQ is one of the solutions to that tragedy.”
